? -1957 Miami, OK Joplin, MO |

This house is a new one that replaced the original frame house sometime in the 1970's. 531 E Street Southeast, Miami, OK. An original frame style house still standing a few doors away from the first house I remember. This is similar to the house I remember at 503 E Street Southeast. |

Sparkman house, Republic, MO, the Meier home in the early 60's. This house had a full basement and two pine paneled rooms upstairs where my brother Rex and I lived. My half of upstairs had the big dormer. There was a double garage with a floored attic, a smal barn, a root cellar and a large chicken house. We kept a horse here (Coaly) for a year. White Oak St., Republic, MO, the Meier home (around 1965). Joe Hill, who introduced me to amateur radio, lived on the corner of this street. |

1966-1973 Whitehaven, TN |
Cissy's home from birth-1973. Last noted, a "psychic" was advertising new-age seminars from here. 4217 Cheryl Drive, Memphis, TN, lived from 1966-1973. This is where I lived when I became a licensed amateur radio operator. I strung wires in the trees and installed verticals and later beam antennas. The fence was not there then. I operated out of the garage initially, then moved into a pine paneled room inside the house. Later I used an 8X16 portable building out back as my bedroom and radio shack |
(Cissy: Grahamwood Elementary/Treadwell High School) Hillcrest High School, Graceland Drive, Memphis. I transfered here halfway through my freshman year. It was quite a shock coming from Republic High School - the class at Hillcrest had more people in it than the whole high school in Missouri. I graduated in 1969. I learned photography here and helped with the yearbook. Dave and Cissy: Memphis State University now University of Memphis |

This was only a block from where I worked. We vacated when we bought a house. |
WMPS transmitter site, Benjestown Road, north Memphis, worked there as transmitter engineer for AM FM station in 1973. Back then the building had a classic 1930's art deco facade with metallc curves and glass block wondows. Now an automated, unattended, prison-like structure. 1027 E Brooks Rd, Memphis, "Russ Hellen's CB Center", worked off and on from 1968 until the mid 70's. I obtained much electronic technical experience here, working on CB radios, monitor radios and other equipment. Now defunct and vacant. 2979 Sandbrook, Memphis, Mahaffey Communications, worked there for a year or so in '73-'74 as a technician installing and repairing mobile telephones, commercial radios and pagers. |
1975-1980 Memphis, TN (Oakhaven) |
3460 Meier Dr., Memphis, 1974 - 1980. Our first house cost $28,950 and was 1100 square feet. The street name Meier was pure coincidence. I had two towers here, one with a 10 foor dish at 45 feet. |
DIPEC Bldg 210, Memphis, worked from 1974 - 1994. The entire Defense Depot Memphis has now shut down and the assets transferred to the city of Memphis. Oakville Health Care Center, Cissy's workplace from 1975-1983. The facility has since closed. |

3205 Covington Pike, Memphis, 1980 - 1994. This house cosr $70,000 and was 2150 square feet. My radio room was the large "bonus" room on the second story. I had several towers there, the highest at 50 feet. I had a 14 foot dish for moonbounce communications. |
