As another GPS flight planning exercise I propose a flight to
Yellowstone Regional KCOD (Cody, WY) where the American Yankee Association periodically
holds its annual convention. This plan was developed on the Avmap EKP-IV using the map display and internal
database. Overnight stops in Missouri, Oregon and Tennessee were chosen for
convenience of visiting relatives in those places. The return flight path was
chosen to follow the Pacific cosstline and to revist some of the interesting places over
which I flew in ferry flights of the '70s. The table below
shows the sequence. The total distance is 5700 nautical miles, with the single
longest refueling leg of about 500 nautical miles (within the normal range envelope of the
Cheetah).
